May Magpies was originally conceived for families who were adopting from China and had either sent our dossiers to China (DTC) or have a log-in date (LID) during the month of May, 2006. However with the growing delays within the community we have decided to expand our site to provide a source for everyone who is currently within the adoption process and looking for a means of communicating with other members. This website is a place to meet other families, view pictures, participate in group projects, and share referral news. Click on a link at the top or the left to browse around!  As the red thread represents our connection to children we have yet to meet, it also joins us together on our adventure.

Our logo is the magpie. In Chinese culture, the magpie is a symbol of happiness. It is said that the singing of a magpie foretells happiness and good fortune and is often called ‘Happy Magpie’ by the Chinese people. It could not be more appropriate that the magpie represent our desire to complete our families through the journey of adoption from China.

With this in mind we have adopted a basic Chinese proverb that we feel sums up our desires and provides a simple yet effective statement:

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break."
